Seeking Professional Help for Mental Health
February 21, 2023
There are many stages in our life, when we feel isolated, lonely, misunderstood, and even unworthy of love, care, and support. During these difficult times, the heaviness in your heart can grow and start to overwhelm you and lead to a deterioration of your mental well-being. These are often the phases where “depression” and “anxiety” become the overriding labels of your life.

But First!

Let us reassure you, that you are not alone. You are loved. You are worthy. You are cared for. Even when it does not feel like it. You are important and a person of value.

One simple way of helping yourself get out of these self-defeating thoughts of negativity is to ask for help.

The most direct way of getting this help is through mental health professionals, such as therapists, counselling psychologists, clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, or even your general physician who can make you a referral for an expert in the field. A mental health professional creates a safe space of confidentiality and non-judgment for you, where you can express your thoughts, emotions, fears and doubts openly and without the fear of opinions.

This space allows you to identify the root cause of your feelings and helps you find resolutions for your problems. There are several types of therapies available, such a psychotherapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Art therapy, Dance therapy, relationship counselling, child and adolescent therapy and many more.

Each one of these provides you with healing, support and enrichment for your mental and emotional well-being.
